Centro Internazionale per la Ricerca Matematica

Centro Internazionale per la Ricerca Matematica

CIRM stands for “Centro Internazionale per la Ricerca Matematica”. It is a laboratory established in 1979, that is financially supported jointly by three institutions via an agreement that is renewed every three years. These institutions are

  • FBK (Foundazione Bruno Kessler), which also offers administrative support,
  • University of Trento and its Department of Mathematics, which offers close collaboration and office space to the guests of CIRM,
  • INdAM (Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica “Francesco Severi”).

The scientific scope of CIRM is the collaboration of the three institutes with the main objective of promoting and supporting international research in Mathematics, through the organization and co-funding of conferences, workshops, scientific events as well as several research-in-pairs programs.

CIRM is committed to hosting groups of scholars, including prominent senior academics as well as promising young researchers, while also securing diverse groups of participants of the events. While being a relatively small center, CIRM has attracted an average of 430 international mathematical researchers per year in the last 45 years.

International Association for Statistical Computing (IASC)

International Association for Statistical Computing (IASC)

The International Association for Statistical Computing (IASC) is a section of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), dedicated to advancing the theory, methods, and applications of statistical computing, data science, and artificial intelligence worldwide.

Founded in 1977, IASC has long been at the forefront of computational statistics. Today, it is actively evolving to strengthen its role in the broader data science and AI ecosystem, promoting innovation at the intersection of statistics, machine learning, and modern computational methodologies.

Through international conferences, workshops, and educational initiatives, IASC fosters collaboration across academia, industry, and government. It is particularly committed to supporting early-career researchers, encouraging interdisciplinary research, and building capacity in emerging regions.

As part of its strategic vision, IASC is reinforcing its identity and activities to better reflect the growing importance of data science and artificial intelligence, while maintaining a strong foundation in statistical principles and rigor.

Membership and Benefits

IASC membership provides access to a global network of researchers and practitioners in statistics, data science, and AI. Members benefit from reduced registration fees for conferences and events, eligibility for IASC awards and recognitions, access to exclusive training and educational activities, and opportunities to participate in specialized working groups and international collaborations. Membership also offers increased visibility within the global statistical community and engagement with initiatives promoted by the ISI.

How to Join

Membership in IASC is open to students, researchers, and professionals with an interest in statistical computing, data science, and related fields. Individuals can join IASC by registering through the International Statistical Institute membership platform, selecting IASC as their affiliated section during the application process.
